The National Capital Authority (NCA) and National Australia Day Council (NADC) are to partner with Events ACT to provide a range of Australia Day activities to respect, reflect and celebrate in Commonwealth Park and along Lake Burley Griffin next week.

Chief Minister Andrew Barr said the Territory was pleased to support the NCA and NADC with this year’s necessarily re-imagined Australia Day events.

“The modified events will ensure Canberrans have a COVID-Safe acknowledgement of Australia Day,” Mr Barr said.

Federal Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Territories, Nola Marino said that with COVID-19 safety front of mind, Canberrans could celebrate Australia Day with series of outdoor events that would disperse people around the National Triangle.

“Local and interstate artists and festival experiences will be spread over various locations throughout the day, as well as the star-studded line up of artists for the Australia Day concert at Stage 88 in Commonwealth Park,” Ms Marino said.

“The program will cater to a variety of audiences in a safe and measured way,” she said.

Ms Marino said the two main events planned for 26 January were ‘The Great Aussie Picnic’ at Lake Burley Griffin and ‘Australia Day Concert’ at Commonwealth Park.
