I’ve reviewed many releases by Delta Goodrem and just about everything that can be said of her extraordinary talent has been said many times over.
She’s such a good and consistent performer that she’s like rolled gold, completely reliable and dependable.
However, she can still surprise and this track presents her in full blown rock queen mode.
Billionaire is a stadium anthem about the struggle for success in the entertainment industry, or for that matter any profession.
Her protagonist rejects her mother’s advice to marry rich and instead opts for making it to the top on her own terms.
Delta presents the song with bucket-loads of drive, guts, and determination, reflecting the path taken by the character in the song.
I particularly like the quiet coda at the end which provides a sense of satisfaction at a job well done.
Billionaire is the latest single to be released from Delta’s up-coming album Bridge Over troubled Dreams which will be her seventh studio album.
It’s due for release in the coming months.
Delta is one of our most awarded performers ever and she’s won three World Music Awards, nine ARIAs and sold over eight million albums world-wide.
She’s also appeared in films, on TV, appearing in her first TV commercial at the tender age of seven, and of course her debut album, Innocent Eyes, knocked John Farnham’s Whispering Jack off the top pedestal by posting 29 weeks at number one.
In other words she’s done it all and continues to be Australia’s most bankable female artist.
I’m looking forward to the album.
