The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commissioner has issued an update on her review into workplace equality in Ambulance Victoria (AV).
In the update, Commissioner Kristen Hilton provided further information on how current and former AV team members could participate in her review, including via a survey set to be launched in her Office on 3 March.
“Since my last update [28 January], my team and I have been busy talking with a wide range of current and former employees and first responders/volunteers,” Commissioner Hilton said.
She said they received 295 enquiries about the review; conducted 16 confidential interviews with a further 43 interviews scheduled; received 21 written submissions; held four information sessions; and met regularly with the unions and other key stakeholders.
“On Wednesday, 3 March, the Commission will begin our online survey of current and former employees and first responders/volunteers,” Commissioner Hilton said.
“Responses will be kept confidential, you will not be asked to provide your name,” she said.
“Responses will inform the findings and recommendations in our final report; survey results will be de-identified in the report.”
Commissioner Hilton said the confidential survey would help her Office understand AV team members’ experience of discrimination; sexual harassment; victimisation and/or bullying; accessing flexible work; accessing reasonable adjustments; and other aspects of workplace equality, including accessing or returning to work after parental leave.
The Commissioner said current and former employees and first responders/volunteers could complete the confidential survey between 3 and 31 March.
“Current employees and first responders/volunteers will automatically receive a unique link to the survey,” she said.
“Former employees and first responders/volunteers must first register their interest in completing the survey by emailing [email protected], after which they will receive a unique link to the survey,” Commissioner Hilton said.
