Alumni from the Australian National University (ANU) and Macquarie University are now eligible for reduced fees on postgraduate study at both institutions with the universities signing onto an Australian-first collaboration.

Vice-Chancellor of the ANU, Brian Schmidt said both universities offered alumni postgraduate support schemes to help their graduates return to study and upskill.

“This 10 per cent fee waiver has now been extended to be available on a reciprocal basis,” Professor Schmidt said.

“The new fee waiver is just the first step of a partnership between ANU and Macquarie, which also includes the opportunity for international students at either university to study on exchange at the other to broaden their experience of Australia,” he said.

“ANU and Macquarie are such complementary institutions; when we combine our areas of expertise in teaching and research and the diverse experiences of our two cities, we can give students an incredible experience.”

Professor Schmidt said eligible alumni could apply for the postgraduate support scheme via the scholarship pages of each university’s website.

Vice-Chancellor of Macquarie University, Bruce Dowton said the study support arrangement would encourage lifelong learning for alumni of two great Australian universities.

“The international exchange scheme means Macquarie international students can gain experience from some of Australia’s brightest minds at ANU while exploring the nation’s capital,” Professor Dowton said.

“Meanwhile ANU international students can experience the business capital of Australia in Sydney and participate in Macquarie University’s award-winning programs such as our Global Leadership Program.”
