The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) has released its Corporate Plan and Quality Assurance Framework for 2021-22.

These plans are in addition to the Auditor-General’s Annual Audit Work Program which sets out the Office’s program of audits for the coming year.

Auditor-General, Grant Hehir said the Corporate Plan 2021–22 was the ANAO’s primary planning document and the Quality Assurance Framework and Plan 2021–22 complemented the Corporate Plan.

“Our strategic planning process allows us to continually improve practices and capabilities to demonstrate value in the delivery of services to the Parliament,” Mr Hehir said.

“[The] Corporate Plan 2021–22 updates the previous corporate plan and outlines how we intend to deliver against our purpose over the next four years (2021–22 to 2024–25),” he said.

“The Plan highlights our desire to engage positively and transparently in delivering audit and support services to the Parliament.”

Mr Hehir said the Plan also detailed ANAO’s approach to risk management, which was critical to successfully meeting its responsibilities in providing professional and independent audits.

The Auditor-General said the Quality Assurance Framework and Plan described and reflected the ANAO’s quality assurance strategy and deliverables for the coming year.

“[The] Framework is the ANAO’s established system of quality control to provide the Auditor-General with reasonable assurance that the ANAO complies with the ANAO Auditing Standards and applicable legal and regulatory requirements and reports issued by the ANAO are appropriate in the circumstances,” he said.

“The Quality Assurance Strategy and Plan component of this document identifies the key activities that the ANAO conducts to provide the Auditor-General with comfort that the controls established within the Quality Assurance Framework are implemented and operating effectively.”

Mr Hehir said a sound quality framework supported delivery of high-quality audit work and enabled him to have confidence in the opinions and conclusions in the reports prepared for the Parliament.
