The ACT Audit Office has entered into a twinning arrangement with its Kiribati counterpart to share expertise and assist the Kiribati Audit Office to improve its performance audit capability.

ACT Auditor-General, Michael Harris and his staff welcomed two representatives from the Kiribati Audit Office to Canberra last week to commence the arrangement.

“The twinning arrangement will allow us to share our experience and knowledge to assist the Kiribati Audit Office to improve its performance audit capability and performance,” Mr Harris (pictured centre back) said.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Joy Burch said the new partnership was the result of discussions between Mr Harris and Kiribati Auditor-General, Eriati Tauma Manaima, following the 24th Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI) Congress in Koror, Palau.

“The ACT Legislative Assembly has a special and enduring relationship with Kiribati and this new twinning arrangement between the ACT and Kiribati Audit Offices is a further demonstration of the commitment and interest we share,” Ms Burch (pictured centre right) said.

“These arrangements are also an excellent opportunity for the exchange of information and an opportunity to learn from the way other jurisdictions operate,” she said.

“I am pleased to have joined with the Auditor-General today to support this new arrangement and look forward to seeing this relationship grow,” she said.
