Touring opportunities in regional and outer metropolitan areas are to be boosted to give Victorians the chance to experience the best of art and culture in their hometowns.
Minister for Creative Industries, Danny Pearson said creative and community organisations with plans to hit the road, or bring shows to their region, could now apply for grants through the Touring Victoria and Small Regional Presenters Programs.
Mr Pearson said Touring Victoria offered grants to Victorian arts and cultural organisations (or professional performers and creatives) to tour professional productions, performances, exhibitions or programs around regional and outer-metropolitan Victoria.
“Projects that have received Touring Victoria support in previous years but had to shift their plans to 2021 or beyond due to the pandemic can also apply for support to remount their tour and put COVIDSafe measures in place,” Mr Pearson said.
“The Small Regional Presenters Program offers grants to regionally based not for profit community presenters – including community organisations and local Government bodies – to bring performing arts shows to their community or venue that they know will appeal to local audiences,” he said.
“The program is open to the full spectrum of performing arts and live shows, including theatre, music and literary events.”
Mr Pearson said COVIDSafe funding would also be available to presenters previously supported through the Small Regional Presenters Program who had to postpone their shows to 2021.
The Minister said a total of $1.1 million was available in grants to present creative works in regional Victoria.
