The Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) has announced it is in the final stages of preparing the 2020 Australian Public Service (APS) employee census, programmed to run for five weeks from 12 October.

In a statement, the Commission said the census would give APS employees the opportunity to have their say about their work environment, their Agency and the broader APS.

“The data collected provides a valuable evidence base to support reform initiatives across the APS,” the APSC said.

“Your agency also uses this data to inform its programs, activities and workforce planning,” it said.

“This year has seen some significant challenges, and in response to this we have reshaped the census to focus on how the APS workforce is breaking down barriers, changing work practices, managing wellbeing, leading through crisis and collaborating to deliver outcomes.”

The APSC said invitations to participate in the census would be emailed out between 12 and 16 October.

“Invitations will be staggered across the week so please don’t be concerned if your colleague receives their invitation before you,” it said.

“If you’re interested in finding out more information or do not receive your email invitation, please contact your agency census coordinator, visit the APSC website, or email the APSC team at [email protected].”

The Commission said the census, which was normally held in May and June, had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
