The 2018 ACT Training Awards are now open for nominations.

The awards will be presented in 14 categories recognising outstanding individuals and organisations in Canberra’s vocational education and training sector.

Launching the nominations, Minister for Higher Education, Training and Research, Meegan Fitzharris said vocational education and training made a significant contribution to the lives of individuals and the economy as a whole.

“A recent Productivity Commission report shows ACT vocational education and training graduates are leading the country in finding employment and getting into further study, which is a real testament to all those working in the local sector,” Ms Fitzharris said.

“Last year’s ACT Training Awards saw a jump in nominations from employers, teachers and trainers, as well as from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.”

She said she wanted even more individual apprentices and trainees to put in nominations and share their stories to receive well-deserved recognition for their achievements within their industry in the 2018 awards.

Individual award winners from the 2018 ACT Training Awards will go on to represent the ACT as finalists at the Australian Training Awards in Sydney later this year.

“The ACT Training Awards are also an opportunity for local providers to gain national recognition as an employer or registered training organisation of choice,” Ms Fitzharris said.
