Defence and aerospace giant Boeing has announced that Amy List has been appointed as managing director of Boeing Defence Australia (BDA).

Ms List will succeed current managing director and vice president of BDA Scott Carpendale who will move into the role of vice president of government services for the Asia-Pacific region.

She will also serve as a board member of Boeing Australia Holdings and a member of the Boeing Australia leadership team led by Boeing Australia, New Zealand & South Pacific president Maria Fernandez.

Boeing Defence Australia’s headquarters is located in Brisbane, and the company has corporate, sustainment, training and manufacturing facilities in Canberra, Melbourne, Amberley near Ipswich, Williamtown near Newcastle, Townsville, Oakey near Toowoomba, Edinburgh in Adelaide and Nowra.

The company supplies and sustains a number of programs for the Australian Defence Force, including the Air Force’s C-17A Globemaster III, P-8A Poseidon, E-7A Wedgetail, 737 BBJ, F/A-18F Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler and MQ-28A Ghost Bat, the Australian Army’s CH-47F Chinook and, from 2025 the AH-64E Apache.

BDA also manages the joint Army-Navy Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS), and it designed, manufactured and supplied the Currawong battlespace communications system to the ADF under Project LAND 2072 Phase 2B.

Ms List previously served in the Royal Australian Air Force and in acquisition and sustainment programs for the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO – now the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group – CASG).

She worked for Raytheon Australia for nine years before joining BDA in 2018. At Boeing, she has worked as director of Wedgetail Programs, director of the structures and build capability, director of sustainment operations and, most recently, as director of operations.

“Amy has more than 20 years of military and Defence industry experience, including engineering and operational service in the Royal Australian Air Force,” Mr Carpendale said in a company statement.

“This includes four years leading our sustainment operations portfolio, which delivers key products and services such as AH-64E Apache, CH-47F Chinook, Helicopter Aircrew Training System, F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler to our customers.”
