NSW Ambulance has announced a new initiative aimed at delivering information and connectedness for the families of staff employed in the ambulance service.

Commissioner and Chief Executive of NSW Ambulance, Dominic Morgan launched the Family Support Network saying it would provide family members with important resources and tools so they could better support their loved ones working at NSW Ambulance.

“The Family Support Network is based on the latest evidence and has been developed following valuable feedback from staff and families,” Commissioner Morgan said.

“The organisation wouldn’t be what it is today without the love and support of the families who care for our staff,” he said.

“I know that the last 12 months have been particularly difficult for families, it has been a challenging time for our staff but I am grateful that throughout it all you have been there by their side, a pillar of strength in these extraordinary times.”

“You’ve been there for them, now it is our turn to be there for you.”

Commissioner Morgan said the Network would connect the families of staff with local and State-wide support services.

He said the Network would provide family members with the resources to identify signs of distress in their loved ones; better support themselves and their wider family when under stress; and help them seek help early.

“The NSW Ambulance Family Support Network has the key objective of equipping family members of NSW Ambulance staff with the knowledge and resources to look after their own and their families wellbeing,” he said.

Commissioner Morgan said NSW Ambulance Family Support Network looked forward to hosting a series of events when COVID-19 restrictions eased but resources were already available online.
