The Office of the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment (OCPSE) has launched an action plan to improve the lives of South Australia’s Public Service workers.

Commissioner for Public Sector Employment, Erma Ranieri said the I WORK FOR SA Your Voice Survey Sector Action Plan for 2022 was built around the feedback received in last year’s inaugural Survey and was designed to create wide-reaching improvements across the sector.

“Alongside this, individual Agencies’ action plans have been developed to respond to the issues identified in the Survey that are unique to each workplace and context,” Ms Ranieri said.

She said the Action Plan would focus on key areas which included: Defining what makes a good leader in the sector: Providing greater support and more relevant tools so employees could nurture and manage wellbeing; Ensuring the sector was respectful and inclusive and its recruitment processes were fair and transparent.

Mrs Ranieri said almost 40,000 employees participated in the 2021 Survey with a record 36 per cent response rate.

“I committed that we would not only listen to your feedback but act,” she said.

“For several months now, we have analysed the Survey’s results and engaged with stakeholders across the sector to understand better which actions would drive the most positive change.

“This was not a straightforward task because of the size and diverse interests of the SA Public Sector.”

Mrs Ranieri said while some Agencies’ action plans would offer immediate benefits, such as short courses, other improvements would be more gradual.

“What is clear either way is that we must not waste the opportunity created by the pandemic to reshape our workplaces and the way we work,” She said.
