The Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) is calling on residents across NSW to help shape the future of open spaces.

Commissioner of Open Space at DPE, Fiona Morrison invited the community to provide its thoughts by completing the NSW Regional Outdoor Survey.

“Access to open space is incredibly important to the health and happiness of our communities,” Ms Morrison said.

“We want to know what is important to the people of NSW in their open spaces,” she said.

“Whether it be picnicking with friends and family, walking the dog, jogging, cycling, or just relaxing in the park, we want to hear how you access the great outdoors.”

Ms Morrison said the results of the survey would help the Department and local governments understand the needs of the community and plan for the future.

She said the survey would take five to 10 minutes to complete and was completely confidential.

“We appreciate communities know what they want and need in their local area” the Commissioner said.

“We hope to receive more than 10,000 responses from all corners of the state to help shape the future of NSW.”
