The Department of Communities has announced it is moving its website presence to the whole-of-government WA.gov.au platform.

In a statement, the Department said the move would bring together content from legacy websites of its former Agencies.

“These include Disability Services, Child Protection and Family Support, Housing and relevant content from the Department of Local Government and Communities,” it said.

“Content will be migrated in a phased approach over the next 12 months.”

The Department said the WA.gov.au website was a better deal for it, as it had been designed to improve the user experience by simplifying how people searched for and found Government information and services.

“It is also designed to be accessible to as many people as possible,” the Department said.

“This includes people with disability, people who can’t use or struggle with digital services, people using alternative online technologies such as mobile devices, and people living in locations with poor internet connection.”

“We at the Department of Communities are just one of several Government Agencies who have decided they are better off moving to the WA.gov.au platform,” the Department said.

“Of course this will in no way change our focus on the needs and aspirations of the people we serve.

“We support people to be the best they can be, and to live a good and meaningful life, a life with opportunity,” it said.
