Libraries ACT is trialling a new mystery box service, to help people having trouble accessing their local library.
Announced by the Minister for City Services, Chris Steel, the trial is set to provide library members with a new way to access resources.
“The mystery box service is available to Canberra residents whose access to the library is currently impacted by COVID-19,” Mr Steel said, “for example, someone unable to leave their home for health reasons or a single parent at home with young children.”
“Library members can sign up for the free service to receive a box of up to 10 surprise items from Libraries ACT’s collection in relation to their preferred genre, whether it is mystery, history, thriller, romance or health and wellbeing,” he said.
Mr Steel said books and DVDs would be delivered in the mystery boxes, which could be enjoyed for four weeks.
Libraries ACT will thoughtfully select each item before delivering them to the homes of around 2,000 lucky trial participants.
The Mystery Box will be collected after four weeks, and a new one will be delivered at a different time to be COVID Safe.
The mystery box service offers a new way for library members to receive paper and digital resources, providing much-required literary and stress relief during COVID-19.
