Libraries ACT has begun a major upgrade of its administration processes with the first stages being implemented this week.
Announcing the Integrated Library Management System, Executive Branch Manager of Libraries ACT, Vanessa Little (pictured) said it would be an exciting time for all library users.
“Our existing systems are being refreshed and updated and from this week we will begin to implement our new Integrated Library Management System,” Ms Little said.
“The first phase of the new system will be installing self-service kiosks and return chutes,” she said.
“Things might look a little different, but they will be easier to use, and our customers will be able to do more.”
She said that in the final phase, library members would also have access to a new and improved catalogue which would allow them to search for all resources in the one place including e-books and other digital material as well as create alerts so they will know when material of interest is available and more.
She said screen instructions would guide users through the new kiosks.
“If members experience any issues, the library team at the branch will be available to help out,” Ms Little said.
“Kiosks will be used to borrow, renew and return material,” she said.
“While self-service kiosks and new return chutes are being installed, there will be times when some services are limited or unavailable.”
She asked members to be patient and also reminded them to ensure their membership details were up-to-date to get the most out of the new library system.
