ACT Health has launched a work plan for the Office for Mental Health and Wellbeing following consultation and contributions from across the ACT.
Coordinator-General of the Office, Elizabeth Moore (pictured) said the plan was a culmination of work and input from the Canberra community.
“The work plan is more than just about policy and clinical support services or acute care needs,” Dr Moore said.
“It aims to reduce the growing demand for mental health services by creating an environment that’s compassionate and responsive to the spectrum of mental health needs.
“It acknowledges that people need a holistic approach which incorporates their mental and physical illness or alcohol and drug issues, housing, education and employment.”
She said the plan set a way forward and built on positive work happening across the Territory to ensure better planning and coordination of information, support and services.
“The work plan is a collaborative effort between the Office and key stakeholders from across the community and mental health system, including people with lived experience, carers, non-Government organisations, public and private sector providers and Government Directorates,” Dr Moore said.
“At the heart of the work plan is its vision — creating a kind, connected and informed community working together to promote and protect the mental health and wellbeing of all.”
