The Minister for Sport, Yvette Berry has unveiled the list of finalists for the 2018 CBR Sport Awards.
Ms Berry said the awards highlighted the vibrant sport and recreation community in Canberra and how the sporting community nurtured athletes from the grassroots to the elite level.
“This is demonstrated by the range of athletes and volunteers selected as finalists for this year’s awards,” Ms Berry said.
“The selection committee was overwhelmed by the quality of nominations and the calibre of athletes and community members that have been nominated for these awards.”
She said the finalists include teams and individual athletes from 15 sports and the winners in each category would be announced at the awards night on 30 November.
“I would like to congratulate all finalists for their remarkable achievements,” Ms Berry said.
“There were nearly 100 nominations this year and as such, recognition as a finalist is a great achievement.”
She said tickets to the CBR Sport Awards Night can be purchased from the event website at www.cbrsportawards.com.au and the People’s Sporting Champion, presented by Canberra Milk, will again be decided by a popular vote. Voting has now closed.
