Seminars conducted for members of the Australian Defence Forces (ADF) making the transition to civilian life have been redesigned to offer to a more tailored approach to managing the process.
Minister for Defence Personnel, Darren Chester said the changes were in response to feedback from ADF members and their families to ensure the seminars were family friendly with an emphasis on early engagement.
“The seminars are now a one day expo-style format, so attendees can tailor their experience according to their own needs,” Mr Chester said.
“Concurrent information sessions will be held covering topics such as health, finance and career planning with representation from State and Territory Governments and ex‑service organisations.”
He said the new seminar format and enhanced online content provided flexibility for families who had other commitments or were based interstate at the time.
“Family members who cannot make it to the session that the member is attending can still register to attend on another date or location, or access the information online at any time,” Mr Chester said.
The new format was used for the first time at the Melbourne Park Function Centre, Rod Laver Arena, last week.
