The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) has released its Information and Communications (ICT) Strategy for 2021-to-2023, setting out its vision for ICT services and the strategic priorities it intends to focus on.
Secretary of the Department, Phil Gaetjens said the Strategy would guide PM&C’s investment decisions, approaches and practices through to 2023.
“The Australian Public Service (APS) Review highlighted that technology is essential to delivering better quality and more personalised services for Australians, enabling APS staff to focus on higher-value work,” Mr Gaetjens said.
“During this challenging year we have been reminded of the importance of our ICT systems and processes being as strong and streamlined as possible.”
He said there was a need to approach all Government capabilities from a whole-of-enterprise viewpoint, and ensure the APS was disciplined in its use, reuse and enhancement of ICT assets.
“The vision for the strategy is to ensure that ICT projects have the customer in focus; that our ICT systems and services rest on flexible, scalable and efficient foundations; that our assets are secure, resilient, reliable and reusable, and that we have confident digital capabilities,” Mr Gaetjens said.
“The Strategy will ensure ICT is a critical enabler for PM&C and our portfolio Agencies on the journey to building a stronger and more integrated, resilient and flexible Public Service.”
