Parks Victoria, in partnership with Regional Development Victoria, is inviting the public to have a say on the future of You Yangs Regional Park and Serendip Sanctuary.

The Agency said a draft Master Plan had been prepared aimed at protecting and enhancing the natural and cultural assets of the precinct, while also identifying new facilities, infrastructure and unique experiences that could be offered to establish the area as a leading visitor destination.

“The You Yangs precinct is a rich and varied landscape, comprising the distinctive granite peaks of ‘Wurdi Youang’ and Serendip Sanctuary,” Parks Victoria said.

“Located on Wadawurrung Country, the precinct holds significant natural and cultural value, with a history of more than 30,000 years,” it said.

“Today, the You Yangs and Serendip Sanctuary are popular places for wildlife viewing, education and outdoor recreation, including mountain biking, horse riding, rock-climbing and abseiling, trail running, bushwalks and picnics.”

Parks Victoria said the draft Master Plan was now publicly available on the Engage Victoria website and invited people to have their say by making a submission or completing a survey before 4 October.

It said an online community information session would be held on 16 September where people could ask questions and hear from the project team.
