Transport Canberra has invited the Canberra public to try their hand at driving a bus, suggesting the experience may lead to a new career.
The Directorate said the buses would be available on Saturday, 26 October at the Sutton Road Training Centre in Majura in three sessions of 40 participants each with Transport Canberra Trainers/Assessors guiding attendees through the operations of the bus followed by an opportunity to drive around a 2.5km track.
Transport Canberra said the drive would give participants an insight into what it’s like to drive a bus at a relatively high speed.
“Does working with people in our community interest you?” the Directorate asked.
“Attending the come and try day will give you the opportunity to get behind the wheel and get a feel for what it may be like,” it said.
It said a number of operational staff would be at the event to provide information and answer questions related to driving and working for Transport Canberra.
Participants will require a current, full C Class Driver’s Licence or above and must agree to a Come and Try Day participant acknowledgement.
