WorkCover Queensland has presented an updated table of costs for the medical treatment applicable for workers’ compensation in Queensland.
The Medical Benefits Schedule, with item numbers, explanations, definitions, rules and conditions for services provided by medical practitioners, has been adopted and fees have been indexed in line with Consumer Price Index and wage index increases.
In a statement, WorkCover said the updated medical fees, including supplementary services provided by general practitioners and specialists were available on its new website.
“This section of the website also includes the updated fees for self-insurers,” the Agency said.
Among the changes was an explanation of the multiple operation rule, where two or more operations, other than amputations, were being performed on a patient on the one occasion.
“The table of costs are updated regularly throughout the year. If you register for our fees updates you will be notified via email when fees are changed or updated,” it said.
“For individual workers’ compensation questions, such as payment of invoices, please contact the relevant insurer (WorkCover or the self-insurer).”
WorkCover said the changes came into effect on 1 December.
