The ACT Office for Women and the Career Shop in Higgins have linked with the Ginninderry training and employment initiative, SPARK, to run an expanded series of workshops for women across the ACT.
The aim of the workshops is to prepare local women to enter or return to the paid workforce.
Minister for Women, Yvette Berry said she wanted to give women and girls the best chance to reach their potential, contribute to innovation and ideas and to take up leadership positions.
“In a program first, local woman right across the capital region will be eligible to apply for the workshops to be held in September and October,” Ms Berry said.
Training and Employment Manager at SPARK, Emma Sckrabei said its purpose was to educate, upskill and boost confidence while providing real-world learning opportunities to participants.
“By opening this latest opportunity up to women right across Canberra, we’re hoping to expand our reach and build on Ginninderry’s commitment to improving the lives of those in our local community,” Ms Sckrabei said.
“Along with guidance for creating professional resumes and cover letters, participants will also receive industry advice to help them prepare for job interviews in the private and public sectors and explore career options.”
Ms Berry said workshops on the Northside would begin on 4 September and in the Southside on 24 October.
