The WA Police Force Recruitment Team is to be on show at the EveryWomen Expo which begins on Friday (16 June) and runs through the weekend.
Senior Recruiting Coordinator at WA Police, Senior Sergeant Jodie Leahy said the Expo would showcase businesses focused on health and wellbeing, food, lifestyle, fitness and fashion, and was a prime opportunity to encourage women to join WA the Police Force, including those from Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
“By the Recruitment Team attending these expos, it allows women a chance to interact with like-minded women who have pursued a career in policing,” Senior Sergeant Leahy said.
“There will be women from different ranks, specialist roles, and life experiences to share their insights.”
She said she knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career as a police officer, and her current role on secondment to the Recruitment Team gave her an opportunity to share her experiences and stories with potential applicants.
“I wanted the variety and doing something different every day; the camaraderie with co-workers and excitement — and the chance to work in different areas and around the State,” the Senior Sergeant said.
“With 28 years’ experience, having worked the majority of my career in the country, I still feel as passionate about it as the first day I was sworn in.”
The recruitment team can be found at Stand B39 during the Expo, which is being staged at the Perth Convention Centre.
