The Minister for Women, Yvette Berry has announced that nominations are now being called for the 2020 ACT Women’s Awards.
Ms Berry said each year the ACT Women’s Awards celebrate the women amongst us who improve the status and lives of women and girls in the Territory.
“The Awards are a way of saying thank you for the excellent work women do across Canberra,” Ms Berry said.
“The awards provide an opportunity to honour and acknowledge those Canberra women who are going beyond the norm, doing extraordinary things, with often minimal acknowledgement, to make things better for others in our community.”
She said the awards are presented in three categories: ACT Woman of the Year – all nominees are automatically considered in this category; ACT Senior Woman of the Year – nominees 60 years and over at 8 March 2020; and ACT Young Woman of the Year – nominees 16 to 25 years at 8 March 2020.
She said winners and runners up would be announced as part of International Women’s Day celebrations in March 2020.
“Winners will be automatically included in the ACT Women’s Honour Roll and will have the option of being entered for consideration for the Australian of the Year Awards,” Ms Berry said.
