Set on 250 acres just outside the charming hamlet of Dalgety, 1587 Dalgety Road features a spectacular two-storey home that offers thoughtful design, modern amenities and plenty of space to grow on the banks of the Snowy River.

What was once an extensive pine plantation is now known as ‘Four Winds’. The block hosts rolling pastures that surround a 1990s colonial-style build, characterised by its wrap-around verandah, hardwood shingle roof and traditional sandstone architecture.

Visitors so far have been surprised and delighted by sweeping views of the Snowy Mountains and Perisher Range, but sales agent Nigel Rae of Henley Property – Jindabyne says it’s the effortless style of the main home that really catches their attention.

“I don’t think many people understand just how big 250 acres is until they see it for themselves. Their eyes light right up once they realise the level of freedom and opportunity this amount of land can give you,” he says.

“Once they see how beautiful the house is, their eyes light up again.”

Entry to the home is through a quaint office, kept cosy by a French potbelly stove. The office leads into an open-plan lounge and dining area complete with a statement sandstone fireplace, exposed timber beams and African slate flooring. Wooden stained glass doors open to reveal a country-style kitchen with modern appliances and cedar panelling.

Both ground-floor bedrooms have built-in wardrobes, and the master suite is oversized, with two sets of French doors that open onto the verandah. The sunny family bathroom has a separate toilet for privacy, and another can be found in the laundry across the hall.

“There are loads of thoughtful inclusions in this design that make it unique, like the little wine cellar hidden underneath the stairs,” Nigel says.

“Once you go up those stairs, you step into the loft and are rewarded with the most amazing views. It’s a comfy, open floor that houses the third bedroom, a rumpus space and billiards area.

“The home will be sold fully furnished, so yes, that billiards table could be yours!”

A covered entertaining courtyard stands between the main home and a double lock-up garage, with comfortable timber and wicker furniture and a cosy fire pit overlooking the fenced house yard.

Further afield are the property’s original ‘sleepout’ cabins, which are still in great condition.

“The cabins feature a machinery shed and workshop, equipped with multiple 3-phase power outlets, and office with its own kitchenette and sleepout spaces with bathroom access,” Nigel says.

“They’re just a short walk from the main house, so they could easily be used as farm storage, extra accommodation for visitors, or a retreat for older kids.”

Improved pastures throughout the block are completed by a kidney-shaped dam and multiple watering holes, perfect for running livestock or a hobby farm menagerie.

Some mature plantation pines do remain, surrounding the house yard to provide a privacy screen that doubles as a windbreak for the established fruit and nut orchard, which is fully fenced and irrigated.

Wullwye Creek and Chapel Creek run gently through the property, and easy access to the Snowy River offers enviable trout, Murray cod and golden perch fishing.

Nigel says Four Winds would best suit a large family seeking a rural lifestyle or professionals looking to upsize to a large block with endless opportunities for growth.

The price guide for Four Winds is $1,550,000 plus.
