Well Station Drive to pass and drive

City residents on the northside are to have access to a new Park and Ride facility with construction underway in Well Station Drive.

Minister for Transport and City Services, Chris Steel said the new Park and Ride facility on the south-eastern corner of Well Station Drive and Flemington Road would provide an option for Gungahlin residents who wanted to save on parking, while making their daily commute easier and more sustainable.

Mr Steel said the project was part of the Territory’s program of funding to local infrastructure to support jobs throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and improve transport connectivity across Canberra.

“Earlier this year, we released the ACT Transport Recovery Plan with the goal of returning public transport patronage to its pre-pandemic levels and continue growing it in the years ahead,” Mr Steel said.

“One of the ways we will achieve this is by continuing to invest in public transport infrastructure and active travel,” he said.

“When this project is complete, we will have 24 Park and Ride facilities available right across the ACT, making them really available and accessible.”

Mr Steel said the new facility would provide parking for more than 170 vehicles; bike parking facilities; designated accessible parking spaces; an access point from Well Station Drive; new active travel paths linking to the existing signalised intersection of Flemington Road and Well Station Drive; new and upgraded street lighting; as well as line marking, signage and landscaping.
