The Commonwealth Environmental Water Office is to hold two webinars providing information on waterbird breeding, native fish populations and use of water for the environment during wet conditions.
Titled From Droughts to Flooding Rains, the webinars will be held on 7 and 8 March as part of a series with the overall theme A Conversation with the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder (CEWH).
Current CEWH, Hilton Taylor will be joined by Local Engagement Officer, Jason Wilson who will talk about bird breeding at Dharriwaa (Narran Lakes).
In addition, Associate Professor in Ecology at Charles Sturt University, Skye Wassens will discuss her work in the Murrumbidgee.
Mr Taylor invited community members, Traditional Owners, farmers, fishers, business owners, students and other interested people to sign up and attend the webinar.
“The webinar is the perfect opportunity to hear about our work and also to ask questions and receive answers in real time,” Mr Taylor he said.
“The Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder works extensively with Basin communities, First Nations people, water managers, industry representatives and recreational organisations.”
He said with this in mind, as CEWH he valued the opportunity to have a conversation with people from right across the Basin.
“Healthy rivers mean healthy communities and we’re committed to working collaboratively to achieve the best results possible during both dry and wet times,” Mr Taylor said.
