The Victorian Public Sector Commission (VPSC) has launched a People Matter Survey for the State’s Local Government employees on behalf of the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector.
The Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector said over 70 Councils were set to participate in the survey, which would help it understand employee experiences of gender inequality and to build safer, more respectful workplaces.
“Data collected through the survey will form part of Councils’ workplace gender audit results,” the Commission for Gender Equality said.
“If your Council is participating be sure to have your say,” it said.
“The survey is a safe and anonymous way to share your experiences.”
The Commission said the survey questions covered organisational culture including attitudes towards employees from varied cultural backgrounds; different sexes/genders; different age groups; those who identify as LGBTIQ+; and employees with disability.
It said the survey sought information on whether being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, or a member of another minority group, was a barrier to success within organisations.
The Commission for Gender Equality said the survey also covered learning and development; bullying; complaints handling; discrimination; sexual harassment; formal education; and home caring responsibilities.
It said through the survey it sought to understand and improve workplace experiences for diverse groups of people and how representative the public sector was of the Victorian community it served.
