VisitCanberra has launched an online game to promote the experiences Canberra offers its visitors.
Entitled Canberra/Can’tberra, the quiz-style game gives players a short clue and shows a picture, asking them to choose whether they can or can’t experience the activity or sight in Canberra.
VisitCanberra said the tone of the game was proud but cheeky, and was designed to be fun for players.
“It builds on the Lonely Planet #3 Best in Travel accolade, by encouraging users to ‘see what the judges saw’, using the endorsement as further proof that Canberra is ‘criminally overlooked’ as an amazing tourism destination,” VisitCanberra said.
“Data will be collected from prize entries, to be used for future marketing and encouraging visitation.”
It said the game was targeted to the four-hour drive market, with the objective of increasing awareness of the range of experiences in Canberra.
“The campaign allows for integration of Lonely Planet and VisitCanberra’s long-running destination marketing platform, One Good Thing After Another,” VisitCanberra said.
“It demands reappraisal of the destination through demonstrating many of the different experiences you can have in Canberra that audiences may not associate with the destination.”
It said the game also promoted the variety of experiences on offer in an engaging way.
It will be run as a competition until 1 April.
The game can be played on the VisitCanberra website at this PS News link.
