The National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) in Acton is to hold its first-ever vinyl record fair this Friday (6 July).

It said that while July might bring with it the cold Canberra chill, it was also a month full of excitement for music fans.

“The capital’s favourite monthly gathering of analogue music lovers gets bigger than ever, with a broad selection of contemporary music on sale at the record fair,” the NFSA said.

“This will be Canberra’s only record fair consisting entirely of local music aficionados opening up their private collections to those hunting for a bargain, or perhaps that elusive rare edition by their favourite band.”

It said in addition to the fair, regulars and newcomers could also enjoy the monthly session of the Vinyl Lounge.

“Join the festivities by bringing your favourite record and sharing your music stories with like-minded people, or simply take a sneaky peek through our record crates and choose something that captures your imagination,” the NFSA said.

It said the Vinyl Lounge was free for all analogue music enthusiasts, with food and drinks available from the NFSA’s new café, Biginelli Espresso.

“Vinyl Lounge takes place on the first Friday of every month,” the NFSA said.

“The Record Fair is a special event; future editions will be advertised.”
