New figures reveal that the University of Queensland (UQ) has continued to climb the university world rankings with standout results putting it at second for Sports-related subjects; fourth for Engineering – Mineral and Mining, and 16th for Agriculture and Forestry.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject show UQ in the world’s top 50 for Life Science and Medicine and Social Science and Management, and in the top 100 for Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology and Natural Sciences.
Vice-Chancellor of UQ, Deborah Terry said the results showed the university was maintaining its position as an eminent educational institution.
“Despite the challenges we faced during the pandemic, the dedication of our students, staff, researchers and the UQ community has helped cement the university’s continued position as a world leader,” Professor Terry said.
“Emerging from the pandemic in this healthy position is a credit to everyone at UQ.”
She said the rankings also highlighted UQ’s success in creating job-ready graduates, with an increase in employer reputation scores across all broad subject areas.
In specific subjects, the highest scores were recorded in Sports-related, Environmental, Anatomy and Physiology, Nursing, Engineering – Mineral and Mining, and Psychology.
“We have continued to see an increase in UQ’s scores for employer reputation year-after-year, and this shows we are ensuring UQ is known as an institution that delivers highly sought-after graduates,” Professor Terry said.
She noted that being ranked second in the world for Sports-related subjects placed the university in a prime position to help ensure Queensland could stage a successful 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.
