The University of Canberra has skyrocketed 69 places up the 2020 ‘Times Higher Education’ (THE) World University Rankings to reach 10th place in Australia and 193 rd in the world.

Vice-Chancellor and President at UC, Professor Deep Saini said the University was now ranked well within the top one per cent of universities globally.

Professor Saini said UC had shown an improvement across all the indicators, which reflected the university’s balanced approach to all its endeavours.

“This result confirms the steady strengthening of the quality at the University of Canberra, thanks to the outstanding work of our research, teaching and professional staff,” Professor Saini said.

“This upwards trajectory can further be attributed to improvements in research and teaching influence and impact.”

He said the university had scored 99.2 out of 100 points for citation impact, up from 95 in 2019, which placed the university at 16th in the world in citations.

“The increase in citation impact is indicative of the quality of research undertaken at the university, coupled with a rapid growth in influence and reach, and has positioned the university as amongst the best in the world,” he said.

“It is evident that our researchers are demonstrating impact and providing solutions to real-world problems.”

Professor Saini said the university had risen steadily in the THE World University Rankings since it first entered in 2016, initially placing in the 501-600 band before jumping to 401-500 in 2017 and 351-400 in 2018.
