The Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy’s Digital and ICT Graduate Program has invited university students around the State to consider a career in the Government’s digital workforce.

“We support Queensland Government Agencies by delivering talented graduates,” the Program says on its website.

“All Queensland Government Departments are invited to participate.”

It said it also supported university students to create rewarding careers.

“We welcome graduates from a variety of disciplines to apply for our Program,” it said.

The Department gave as an example Momoka, who is using her digital skills to help improve the lives of other Queenslanders.

While both her parents worked in the ICT sector, Momoka considered a range of different careers, including biomedical science, data analytics and the law, before choosing to study for a Bachelor of IT.

“The degree included a focus on human computer interaction which helped me develop my user experience, design and engagement skills,” Momoka said.

“It allows me to help people adopt and use digital technology to improve their lives, by communicating with them to understand their needs.”

Momoka applied for the Digital and ICT Graduate Program and she was placed with the Department of Justice and Attorney-General and got to work on a joint project between the Department and other criminal justice Agencies.

The Digital and ICT Graduate Program is a two-year program that enables graduates to gain experience and forge a digital career.

It helps to ensure Queensland has a thriving digital and ICT workforce to enable Government and industry to benefit from a strong digital economy.
