A new business school has been officially launched at the University of Canberra (UC) by the Chief Minister, Andrew Barr.
The new Canberra Business School is a merger of UC’s School of Accounting and Finance and its School of Management and is set to offer four main undergraduate degrees.
Mr Barr said the school would provide an opportunity for students to receive the skills necessary to meet and adapt to Canberra’s economic future.
Head of the new School, Raechel Johns said the four undergraduate degrees to be offered were: Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Accounting and Bachelor of Events and Tourism Management.
“The school also has a series of postgraduate degrees including the flagship degree, Master of Business Administration,” Professor Johns said.
“It’s impossible to predict what the future may hold, but business graduates must be equipped to handle these challenges,” she said.
“We are supporting them to be decision makers to be creative thinkers to be problem solvers and mostly importantly, to be lifelong learners.”
Professor Johns said the practicality of the courses was a key feature of the Canberra Business School, with all programs offering work integrated learning in the form of internships and industry or research projects.
