A review of Transport for NSW’s Point to Point transport sector reforms is to be conducted to investigate if further assistance or infrastructure is required within the sector.
A spokesperson for Transport for NSW said Sue Baker-Finch would lead the review, taking into account the particular challenges which face Point to Point transport operators in regional areas.
“Sue Baker-Finch brings to the review extensive executive leadership experience in commercial, government and not for profit sectors,” the spokesperson said.
“There have been many benefits of the Point to Point reforms and this is a chance to go back to the industry and customers on progress of the reforms to see if any adjustments might be needed.”
The spokesperson said Point to Point transport played a critical role in regional NSW communities and was facing the impacts of droughts, bushfires and flood.
“This review will address those challenges and examine what needs to be done to continue to meet regional transport needs.”
The spokesperson said the review would not revisit the requirements introduced under the Point to Point Transport (Taxis and Hire Vehicles) Act 2016, the Point to Point Transport (Taxis and Hire Vehicles) Regulation 2017 or the three completed schemes of the Industry Adjustment Assistance Package.
