Transport for NSW has launched one of the largest recruitment drives in NSW’s history for apprentices and trainees in regional and outer metropolitan communities.
Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, Paul Toole has announced that applications are now open for the 53 traineeships.
Mr Toole said it was hoped the recruitment drive and traineeships would assist in improving transport and connectivity in the bush.
“This is one of Transport for NSW’s largest annual recruitment drives with opportunities available in communities across NSW including Tamworth, Narrabri, Grafton, Hay, Broken Hill and Bega,” Mr Toole said.
“Apprenticeships and traineeships are the perfect way to kick-start a career with hands-on, practical experience in a dynamic environment with exposure to high-profile projects with industry experts from day one,” he said.
“Whether you’re a school-leaver, re-entering the workforce or a seasoned worker looking to change careers, this is the opportunity to work on once-in-a-generation projects.”
Mr Toole said a range of roles were available from construction through to business support.
“Transport for NSW is looking for eager candidates to fill roles within business services, civil construction, line marking, bridge carpentry, heavy-vehicle plant mechanics, and in electrical work.”
He said applications close on 18 August and successful candidates would begin their careers on 13 January 2020.
