Locals and visitors are set to experience new digital and interactive activities at the upgraded and updated National Capital Exhibition at Regatta Point.

Senator for the ACT, Zed Seselja, officially opened the Exhibition, which tells the story of the National Capital for more than 50 years, noting that it was the visitor centre’s first major renovation since the turn of the century.

“The location’s original platform was used as a viewing point to watch the development of Lake Burley Griffin from 1962, with the display on the design and development of Canberra on site for 55 years,” Senator Seselja said.

“As Canberra continues to develop and change, so will the Exhibition,” he said.

“Its location offers visitors the opportunity to see and experience the great sites … from Lake Burley Griffin and the Captain Cook Memorial Jet, to the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.”

Assistant Federal Minister for Regional Development and Territories, Sussan Ley said the new Exhibition encouraged appreciation and celebration of Canberra as the National Capital.

“The new Exhibition’s innovative design, enhancements to its digital technology and the interactive activities will provide every visitor with the ability to investigate the fascinating people and grand visions in the story of Canberra,” Ms Ley said.

“So much growth has been witnessed from this important location, and this Exhibition will ensure Australians continue to be informed and educated on the history and importance of the National Capital,” she said.
