A breakdown of the latest appointments in the Australian Public Service, the wider public sector and across the public services of the states and territories.

APS Senior Executive Service

Band 1

Rhonda Bartley has been appointed as head of the Science Branch of the Australian Antarctic Division in the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

James Moller has been appointed as head of strategy and international policy at Sport Integrity Australia.

States and Territories

Paul Saley has been elected to fill the casual vacancy on the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body, replacing Billy T Tompkins, who resigned in May.

Tim Wiebusch has been appointed as Victoria’s Emergency Management Commissioner for a five-year term.

Emeritus Professor Colleen Hayward has been named as independent chair of Western Australia’s Workload Intensification Taskforce, which aims to progress efforts to ease workload pressures for West Australian teachers and school leaders.

Adjunct Professor Mary Haines has been named as a board member of the NSW Environment Protection Authority.

Professor Peter Shergold has been named as chair of the NSW Settlement Advisory Council, which has been created to improve the settlement experience for people from refugee and refugee-like backgrounds in the state.

David Yang and Sarah Crellin have been appointed as non-magistrate coroners of the Coroners Court of NSW from July 2025 until January 2027.

Forensic Science Queensland director Linzi Wilson-Wilde has been suspended pending a show cause notice for removal after a seven-day pause was placed on DNA testing after contamination issues were identified.

Julia Scodellaro has been named as the new chief executive of Queensland’s South Bank Corporation from 1 July for a four-year term.
