A breakdown of the latest appointments in the Australian Public Service, the wider public sector and across the public services of the states and territories.

APS Senior Executive Service

Band 1

Frances van Ruth has been appointed as the new branch head for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Austrade.

Tiina Debevc has been appointed as the Fair Work Ombudsman’s new executive director of operations.

Guy Bursle, Laura Smith and Heather McGilvray have been promoted to Assistant Secretaries of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

Marie Jackson has been appointed as executive director for accessibility and user-centred design at the Administrative Review Tribunal.

Lara Baxter has been announced as the new national manager of Services Australia.

Stephen Dodshon has been announced as the Assistant Commissioner and program lead for new measures at the Australian Taxation Office.

Other Federal Appointments

The Board of Tourism Australia has announced that managing director Phillipa (Pip) Harrison will depart the position in August to take up a new opportunity overseas.

States and Territories

Western Australia’s Corruption and Crime Commission (CCC) Commissioner John McKechnie has announced his retirement from the position. Deputy CCC Commissioner Michael Corboy will act as the Commissioner pending recruitment of the next office-holder.

Michael Barnes has been appointed as the deputy chair of the board of Western Power.

Professor Sharath Sriram has been appointed as Western Australia’s new Chief Scientist following the retirement of Professor Peter Klinken.

NSW Deputy Premier Prue Car has announced she will be taking personal leave for an undetermined period of time as she undergoes breast cancer treatment.

Kirsten Andrews has been appointed to the board of Destination NSW.

Adam Marshall, Mick Veitch and Lyndel Gray have been appointed, and John King has been reappointed, to the board of Reflections Holidays, the NSW Government’s Crown Holiday Parks Land Manager.

Sarah Farnden KC and Dominique Grigg have been appointed as judges of the District Court in Brisbane.

Peter Kuskie has been appointed as magistrate at the Rockhampton Courthouse in Queensland.

Dr Margot McNeill has been named as the new CEO of the Canberra Institute of Technology, effective from 18 June.
