Four Seconds Ago are a newly formed electronic duo featuring Periphery’s Jake Bowen and Misha Mansoor and The Vacancy is their debut release.

The project was talked about for many years but time just wasn’t found to start it until recently.

The album not only serves as the duo’s debut release but it’s also the inaugural release for 3DOT Recordings, which is a new label set up by the six Periphery band members.

Plans for the label include releasing the future Periphery albums and also the individual musicians’ side projects so if you’re into electronica then watch this space.

According to both musicians, the making of this album was a wonderful experience. They call it a “passion project.”

They set no rules or goals for themselves other than to just have fun and see what eventuated.

Bowen explained that “Misha and I have really incredible chemistry when it comes to music. We’ve written a ton of songs together and it just comes out easily.”

With Four Seconds Ago there was no pressure, because they had no expectations and maybe that’s why the creative juices flowed so well.

The resultant 10-track instrumental recording contains a big luscious sound.

The tracks are very atmospheric and the whole body of work links together well.

I can imagine many of these tracks being used for film scores.

It’s taken me many years to fully get into electronica and I’m often underwhelmed but much of it, but I do like this album.
