By Lachie Gill, Universal Music Australia 2022.
Lachie Gill has been crowned The Voice Season 11 Winner, taking home $100,000 in prize money and a recording contract with Universal Music Australia.
Universal has been quick off the mark to cash in on Lachie’s success with the voting public by releasing Lachie’s first recorded self-penned single, Wasted Time, plus each of the songs he performed through the competition in a compilation package.
The collection includes the live songs that were telecast; Time After Time, Déjà vu, It’ll Be Okay, I Guess I’m In Love, plus his live blind audition piece If The World Was Ending, and the studio produced single Wasted Time.
The list of household names that have emerged from The Voice is remarkable and Lachie is sure to replicate their success and become a household name himself if he gets all the dominoes lined up.
He has a tremendous voice, he has shown that he can pen a good song, and his stagecraft is professional.
Winning coach, Rita Ora said of Lachie; Lachie is in a league of his own, he’s the ultimate storyteller and has the ability to capture the audience and have them go along with him. He sings like it’s the last time, every time.
Lachie is blown away with his success.
He never thought that he stood a chance of winning the competition and he acknowledges that doing so will be a game-changer for him.
The money is important but the contract with Universal Music is an opportunity that he should grab with both hands.
Lachie has all the essential ingredients for a long and successful career, but talent alone is sometimes not enough.
His first album must be a chart topper, so he needs the right producer and the cream of the crop when it comes to session musicians.
However, above all he needs the right songs.
Wasted Time is a good song but he’s going to need at least nine or ten others of similar or better quality to produce a memorable album.
Hopefully Universal Music has already got that in hand and are lining up talented co-writers to assist Lachie on the journey.
