Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS) has put its weight behind the Jean Hailes Women’s Health Week this week, hosting a series of events encouraging women to get active via cycling and walking.
The Spoke Up – for Women’s Health campaign helps women make their health a priority with a focus on the importance of regular physical activity.
It is hoped this will give them the confidence to introduce a positive change to their overall lifestyle.
TCCS said that throughout the week it would host a range of educational and inspirational activities that all women could become involved in.
These would include panel discussions, workshops, a bike maintenance course and a Namadgi mountain ride.
Tomorrow, (7 September) new parents will meet up at the Belconnen Learn to Ride Centre and there will be a workshop in Tuggeranong on what was needed to make cycling easier for women in the area.
On Saturday there will be a women’s bike maintenance course, hosted by Pedal Power ACT and on Sunday the Namadgi mountain bike ride.
TCCS said some workplaces were also running events including yoga, e-bike information sessions and bike maintenance.
“Community organisations and businesses are also encouraged to promote their activities and services to women during this week,” TCCS said.
