The national program connecting Indigenous businesses with Government and other corporate purchasers, Supply Nation, is celebrating its 10th anniversary of growing supplier diversity.

Minister for Indigenous Australians, Ken Wyatt said Supply Nation showcased the scale, scope and capabilities of Indigenous businesses throughout Australia.

Supply Nation has proven to be one of Australia’s most successful business-to-business portals,” Mr Wyatt said.

“It opens supplier pathways through its free, publicly-available business register. It also provides assurance to corporate consumers that listed organisations benefit Indigenous Australians.”

He said he looked forward to the next decade of even more investment in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities.

Chief Executive of Supply Nation, Laura Berry said the organisation was founded with a vision of a prosperous, vibrant and sustainable Indigenous business sector.

“Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been trading for more than 60,000 years,” ms berry said.

“However, Indigenous people are highly under-represented in the Australian business landscape.

“From a starting point of 13 certified suppliers 10 years ago, Supply Nation now has over 2,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses listed with us on Indigenous Business Direct.”

She acknowledged the entrepreneurs, visionaries and passionate advocates who had helped Supply Nation get to this milestone and urged others to join in making a more equitable Australia.
