The promotional blurb grabs your attention. It’s meant to entice. That’s just what happens when you see an offer to visit Casa Angelina on Italy’s Amalfi Coast.
Of course, when you arrive at your destination, the reality far exceeds expectations!
Yes, Casa Angelina is chic and secluded, but what was that about re-discovering the forgotten rhythms of long, drawn-out days and easy, lingering evenings? In such surroundings, pampering is not too difficult to handle. You certainly make the most of your time there!
Sitting on the high cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, Casa Angelina offers an uplifting slice of modern simplicity on the Mediterranean, with an emphasis on stylish minimalism and first-rate food.
The advertisement speaks for itself. “Understated chic is our design ethos and subtle details are our raison d’être: we like to make sure everything is immaculate, from the pillowy and pristine white Etro cotton sheets dressing your bed right down to the carefully placed garnish of garden-grown herbs on your plate.” It’s even more inviting with a special 2019 spring offer!
Casa Angelina has announced a spring offer to celebrate the seasonal 2019 re-opening of this beautiful property in Praiano on the Amalfi Coast.
The spring offer is valid for a minimum two-night stay from until 15 May 2019 and includes:
- 20% discount off the best available rate
- EUR80,00 credit voucher to offset against any hotel food & beverage or spa incidental charges (excluding mini-bar)
- Early check-in or late check-out upon availability
- Upgrade subject to availability
- Farewell gift
Located in Praiano, Italy, Casa Angelina is a quiet retreat from the busy nearby towns.
The Amalfi Coast, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a 50-kilometre stretch of coastline along the southern edge of Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula, in the Campania region.
It’s a popular holiday destination, with sheer cliffs and a rugged shoreline dotted with small beaches and pastel-colored fishing villages. The coastal road between the port city of Salerno and clifftop Sorrento winds past grand villas, terraced vineyards and cliffside lemon groves.
Guest experiences
Casa Angelina is introducing the following new and exceptional guest experiences in 2019:
Cooking lessons: for the first time, cooking lessons will be available at Casa Angelina as private or group experiences. Taking place on the partially covered rooftop terrace overlooking striking views of colourful Positano, guests will learn how to make authentic, local dishes from the region, including variations of just-caught fresh squid, fish and seafood from the adjacent Tyrrhenian Sea.
In addition to the new lessons, Casa Angelina’s executive chef Leopoldo Elefante will create private, intimate dining experiences, showcasing his delectable Italian delicacies.
With the guests as his audience and the dramatic Amalfi cliffs and the sparkling sapphire sea as the backdrop, it is the perfect date-night scenario. Exclusively unfolding by candlelight on the rooftop under the star-studded sky, couples will savour the fresh flavours of local vegetables, feel the texture of homemade pasta and unintentionally learn Italian with Chef as the professor, as he teaches them the Italian names of every ingredient on the plates.
Aperitivo view: this season will see the enhancement of the rooftop terrace, including the installation of a new, leading-edge, outdoor Molteni Luxury Stove, that has been crafted and assembled to the chef’s exact specifications.
While admiring pristine views of Positano and the Tyrrhenian Sea, guests will have the opportunity to sip on a cocktail from the aperol spritz menu – different spins on the original aperol spritz from the hotel’s head bartender – or Casa Angelina’s signature limoncello mojito during the hotel’s new special edition rooftop aperitivo. Guests can mingle and unwind while selecting from a selection of oysters, bruschetta, and pizza slices from the new brick oven, as well as fresh, regional vegetables grown in the hotel’s on-site garden, including eggplant, zucchini and tomatoes.
Squid fishing: a nod to the Praiano’s roots as an ancient fishing village, Casa Angelina will be offering authentic squid fishing excursions with a local expert fisherman. Taking place at night – the most optimal time to catch squid – guests will be able to sail on a Gozzo Sorrentino – a typical wooden boat from the region – from the Marina di Praia to participate in some of the world’s best squid fishing three miles off the coast.
On return to the hotel, guests will be taught to make the area’s traditional ‘Totani e Patate’ (squid and potatoes) with their catch from the excursion.
Feel rejuvenated: following its enhancement last season, Casa Angelina’s spa will continue to offer new experiences and treatments focused on indigenous ingredients and the best techniques.
For the first time, guests will have the opportunity to make their own custom, organic face masks. Using completely organic ingredients and made by hand by guests, spa-goers will be under the instruction of a skilled spa professional to craft a nourishing mask used during their facial treatment and guaranteed to leave a lasting glow.
Proposal concierge: seeing that as many as 35% of guests get engaged while staying at Casa Angelina in a given season, for the first time, the hotel will offer a proposal a la carte menu under the guidance of a personal proposal concierge.
On offer will be a complete range of services for couples, such as arranging an elegant picnic for two under the stars; a private romantic candlelit dinner; a sunset boat tour with a swim at Li Galli Islands; or a fully-customised experience.
Flashing lights: awarded ‘Most Romantic Retreat’ by Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Casa Angelina will offer a new amenity for honeymooners (or any guest, really) – the honeymoon escape portrait. That’s where couples will be able to capture one of the most memorable trips of their life through the lens of one of Casa Angelina’s professional partner photographers. The hotel will arrange a dreamy, once-in-a-lifetime lifestyle photo shoot against a backdrop of Praiano’s majestic cliffs – the perfect way to capture a life-long memory.
Amazing views
The minimalist white design of the hotel compliments the blue water of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Fresh from a recent renovation, the privately-owned, design-forward hotel features unique spaces including an eclectic collection of modern art.
All rooms, including four on the beach, in the five-star hotel have ‘heart-snaring’ sea views over Positano and Capri. Be indulged with amenities including Jo Malone toiletries, an on-site spa, access to the hotel’s private boat for excursions to surrounding towns or a romantic dinner on the water and every level of service luxury travellers expect.
While its ‘design ethos and down-to-earth luxe vision push the boundaries of tradition’, this romantic award-winning retreat remains firmly rooted in its surroundings.
From the Etro cotton sheets to the pristine white interiors of your room, a stay at Casa Angelina is a faultless experience. By day sip the hotel’s own champagne beside the pool. Or zip down to La Gavitella beach, where you’ll find a dedicated area for Casa Angelina guests. Enjoy the lively atmosphere, or explore secluded coves aboard the hotel’s private boat. As afternoon turns to evening, feed your soul at sunset meditation class, then feast on fine dining dishes at Un Piano Nel Cielo.
Outside Casa Angelina waits the authentic Italian charm of Praiano. This peaceful village is a jewel on the Amalfi Coast, set midway between popular Positano and Amalfi. Take a leisurely stroll to discover San Gennaro, a golden church glistening among the whitewashed houses. Explore explore further afield, driving along winding roads to medieval Ravello. If you’re less about sights and more about the spritz, take a seat in a Praiano bar and soak up the views.
Other Amalfi Coast escape experiences – including romantic retreats and body & soul – are also available at the Casa Angelina where luxury is understated, the style is appealing and the panorama views … spellbinding!
