The new facility will be a sister site for the city’s other public aquatic facilities which include Dickson Pool, Manuka Pool, Civic Pool, Lakeside Leisure Centre at Tuggeranong and the Gungahlin Leisure Centre.
Facilities at the Stromlo centre are to include:
- Eight-lane, 50-metre competition pool
- Learn-to-swim pool
- Leisure pool
- Splash pad and slide
- Gym
- Family change rooms
- Creche
- Kiosk/café
The newsletter said the pouring of concrete structures for the pools, splash park and balance tanks were now complete.
“Tiling of the walls in the 50-metre lap pool has begun,” the newsletter stated.
“Pouring of the pool hall columns and installation of the precast panels to the western plant room has also taken place.”
It said the installation of the gym pods, café and reception area were under construction.
