Western Australia celebrated its 35 year Sister-State relationship with China’s Zhejiang Province last month by reaffirming and expanding the international relationship.
Premier Mark McGowan met virtually with the new Governor of Zhejiang, Mr Wang Hao to re-sign the cooperative Sister-State agreement.
Mr McGowan said the renewed agreement included opportunities for both regions to work together to achieve economic outcomes in primary industries, technology, new energy, and the health and life sciences.
“In addition, it commits to continue supporting people-to-people exchanges between schools, business councils and government agencies,” Mr McGowan said.
“The reaffirmation of the Sister-State relationship directly supports objectives in the WA Investment and Trade Plan 2021-22, and is a reflection of WA’s ongoing strong relationship and trading relations with China,” he said.
Minister for Jobs and Trade, Roger Cook said the celebration of the Sister-State relationship sent a clear message that WA wants to build stronger and more diverse commercial links with our Sister-States.
“The re-signed agreement will enable opportunities for future collaboration between WA and Zhejiang businesses, and help build connections in sectors such as the health and medical life sciences, and primary industries,” Mr Cook said.
