The National Capital Authority (NCA) has opened bookings for its 2019 Star Wars music recital at the National Carillon to be held on Saturday week, 4 May.

Billed as May the 4th be with you, the event will be the second time carillonists get to reveal their bell-ringing skills by visiting the music from the movie series.

The concert at the carillon will celebrate all the films under the title: This is Episode Two – Bells in Space.

On that note, the bells will ring from 12.30pm to 1.20pm on Aspen Island which is off Wendouree Drive in Parkes and the invitations are out for music or Star Wars lovers to come as families or groups by bringing picnic blankets and picking up snacks from the onsite food vendors. The venue will be open from 11.30am to 2.30pm.

NCA has advised that Aspen Island is limited to 500 people and the $2 attendance tickets will be on sale until the maximum capacity is reached. All ticket sales from the event will go to support the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

For visitors who can’t be accommodated on the island, access to the surrounding lakeshore is free of charge. They have been encouraged however to register for the event so that vendors are aware of patron numbers.

Limited free parking is available in Kings Park with access to the carpark via Constitution Avenue onto Wendouree Drive. Parking is also available in the Russell Carpark, a short walk to the Carillon.
