Create NSW has announced a partnership with the Powerhouse Museum and music management company, Astral People to further the professional development of talented artists as part of a new Generations Fellowship program.

The Generations Fellowship, valued at $100,000, will support three early career solo artists or groups to carry out six months of professional development during 2020-21.

Partnerships and Policy Director at Create NSW, Alex Bowen said the new Fellowship would ensure that the vibrancy, culture and legacy of the NSW music industry was supported and sustained.

“This exciting new partnership will share the valuable insight and experience of industry leaders, opening up doors and opportunities for our Fellows across the State, country and internationally,” Ms Bowen said.

“Creating new opportunities that pair early career artists with the experience and networks they need to succeed will help us to develop and celebrate an incredible new pipeline of talent across NSW,” she said.

Ms Bowen said matched funding of $40,000 each from Create NSW and the Powerhouse Museum would be boosted by additional in-kind support of $20,000 from Astral People.

She said the three successful artists or groups would be provided with $25,000 each in financial support as well as studio space at the Powerhouse Museum (Ultimo) or Museums Discovery Centre (Castle Hill).

She said the artists would also receive industry mentoring facilitated by Astral People throughout each residency.

Ms Bowen said applications were now open and would close at 5pm on Monday 16 December 2019.
